Some of the duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Incumbent is responsible for the overall supervision of four Accounting Technicians. Plans work to be completed, set priorities, assigns work schedules monitors progress and directs work flow to ensure completion, evaluates performance of the above employees, interviews new employees and initiates recommendations concerning personal actions such as appointment, promotion, or reassignment. Incumbent gives advice or instructions to employees on technical and administrative matters, hears and resolves complaints for employees, identifies training needs and develops methods to provide the necessary training, participates in training of new accounting employees and oversees the cross-training of employees. Implements policies and procedures from higher authority at the local level. Supplies accounting and financial statements, reports and other information a factual nature, including standards types of statements and reports, and data such as cost reports, cash forecasts, standards and special ratios, data reflecting the interrelations of accounting and cost budgeting, and other accounting data. Actively participates in the management of operating programs and organizations by suggesting approaches to be taken and avenues to be explored, in putting accounting and accounting data to effective management use.Performs other duties as assigned. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. A list of college courses and hours or a copy of college transcript(s) must be submitted with your application package. If selected for this vacancy, you will be required to submit official transcripts prior to appointment.OR Combination of Education and Experience-at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
Twenty-four semester hours in accounting courses of appropriate type and quality.This can include up to 6 hours of business law; A certificate as Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal non conformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements. You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Skill in gathering, assembling, consolidating and analyzing facts, Skill in applying generally accepted accounting principles, theories, techniques and procedures to well precedented assignments. OR, Graduate Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or a master's or equivalent graduate degree? The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
