Financial Accounts Technician (Billing Technician)

Process & reviews first party receivables ensuring applicable co-pays for Tricare & Department of Labor beneficiaries and other non-automated co-payment activities are completed. Serves as the liaison for Tricare, Champva, Department of Labor inquiries for all sites. Responsible for coordinating activities with the medical center, internal customers, external customer and ensuring ongoing communication. . Prepares, executes, and/or tracks revenue program specific information. Organizes and retrieves computerized data. Evaluates and performs a detailed analysis of data received from various sources. Generates reports on a variety of data to include Coordination of Benefits, Claim Status Awaiting Work list, Electronic Claims Management Engine. Review documents, reports, and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data is complete and accurate or refers to appropriate area for completion. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system and maintains accurate program specific data for maximum reimbursement while keeping compliant. Reviews health insurance coverage with patients, explains issues such as deductibles, copayments, length of stay, and other matters that explain the VA's role in insurance reimbursement. Counsels patients on coverage to ensure maximum reimbursement for all facilities. May refer certain cases to utilization review nurse and/or attending physician for clarification of billable services and/or appeal process. Incumbent will assure that all pertinent information is gathered and input into Vista timely, in order to provide a more complete and accurate patient information database. Responsible for the coordination of billing of Department of Labor worker's compensation cases, Tricare, ChampVA, Fugitive Felon, Ineligible Veteran, Allied Vet, Integrated Disability Evaluation System and Crime Victim. Provides guidance and assistance to management on activities involving first and third party reimbursement. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. Experience:
Must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal Service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience typically include, but are not limited to:
Program support work such as the billing, collection, customer service, financial reports, insurance identification and referral of cases to Utilization review, compilation, and/or tracking of data and program information in support of revenue. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
